The process is not complicated, but there are a few decisions built into it that most teachers do not realise they are making until it is too late to change them.
The ISLPR test is administered by ISLPR Language Services and its accredited centres. You book directly on their website. No coaching provider, including us, books the test on your behalf or has access to test dates that the public does not. Anyone who tells you otherwise is not describing how the system works.
What a coaching provider can do is help you decide when, where, and in which format to book. That is a genuinely useful conversation, and it is a different thing from the booking itself.
Before you touch a booking form, you need to decide whether you are sitting the test online or in person. This is the single most consequential decision in the whole process, because it changes which page you book on and, in some cases, whether your result will be accepted by your registration body at all.
The online test is conducted over video conferencing, with the writing component completed in the provider's own software. The face-to-face test is a one-hour interview plus a one-hour writing session with an accredited tester in the room. The formats are similar in content, but the rules and conditions differ.
Not every registration body treats online and face-to-face results identically. Before you book either one, confirm with your specific state authority which formats they accept. Booking the wrong format is one of the most expensive mistakes a teacher can make, because it can mean sitting the whole test again.
ISLPR Language Services maintains permanent test centres in Brisbane and Melbourne. If you sit your test in either of those cities, no travel surcharge applies. If you need to be tested anywhere else in Australia, a tester has to travel to you, and an additional fee is shared among the candidates in that session.

The booking itself follows a clear sequence. You read and acknowledge the rules, terms, and conditions. You select your appointment date and time. You make payment. You complete the application form, and you submit it. Your booking is not finalised until you press submit and see the confirmation.
Two things trip people up here. First, applications made without payment are not processed, so a half-completed form does not hold your slot. Second, all appointment times for the online test are listed in Australian Eastern Standard Time, which matters if you are booking from a different time zone.
A valid form of photo identification, a clear decision on which skills you are sitting (you can take a part test, such as writing only, but you must confirm your registration body accepts part tests first), and certainty about your test format and city. Having these settled before you open the form saves you from making a rushed choice inside it.
For the online test, you receive a link to access the test shortly before your scheduled start time. This link can only be opened once, and only when you are ready to begin. Check your junk folder in the days before your test, because a link that lands in spam and is missed is a booking effectively lost.
The booking process rewards teachers who make their key decisions before they start the form, not inside it. City, format, and skills should all be settled in advance. The form itself is just where those decisions get recorded.
The teachers who book well are almost always the ones who spoke to someone experienced first. Not because booking is hard, but because the decisions wrapped inside it (which city, which format, which subject area to nominate in the interview) are much easier to get right with someone who has seen how they play out.
