What Does ISLPR Writing Coaching Actually Cost?

Most ISLPR coaching pages quote a vague price range. Here is an honest breakdown of what drives the cost, and what you should be getting for it.

A lot of teachers researching ISLPR coaching run into vague pricing — a "$300 to $500 AUD" range with no clarity on what determines where you land in it, or what exactly is included. We would rather be upfront: here is what actually drives the cost of ISLPR writing coaching, and what you should expect to get for it, whoever you end up preparing with.

What actually affects the price

One-to-one vs. shared sessions

Fully individual coaching, where every minute is dedicated to your writing alone, costs more than a shared small-group format — but it is not automatically better value if you specifically need writing-only, intensive correction rather than a full four-skill programme.

Live coaching vs. written feedback only

A feedback-only service, where you submit writing tasks and receive detailed corrections without live lessons, is usually the most affordable option — well suited to teachers who are already reasonably close to Band 4 and mainly need error correction rather than structured teaching.

Number of sessions or tasks included

A short, single-session "exam tips" package costs far less than a full multi-week preparation course — reasonably, since the depth of correction and practice is very different.

Whether feedback is individually assessed or templated

Coaching built around your specific error patterns takes more of a coach's time per student than a generic course delivered the same way to everyone — and that difference is part of what you are paying for when a service costs more.

What you should expect for your money, regardless of provider

An assessment of your actual writing

Before any course begins, a coach should look at a real sample of your writing and tell you honestly where you stand — not assume every student starts at the same level.

Feedback benchmarked against Band 4

Every task should come back with feedback that tells you specifically whether it would clear Band 4 with a real examiner, and why — not just "good" or "needs improvement."

A clear, upfront price

You should know the total cost, what it includes, and whether installments are available before you commit — not a vague range that only becomes specific after a sales call.

Honesty about your readiness

A coach who tells you that you need more time before booking a test date is doing you a favour, even if it delays your enrolment or a resit fee for them.

Our own pricing, in full

We publish our full pricing openly rather than behind a sales call. ISLPR Writing Focus (10 individual live sessions, one-on-one) is 318 AUD, with a 2-installment option. ISLPR Writing — Feedback Only (14 writing tasks with detailed written and audio feedback, no fixed lesson times) is 289 AUD. Both sit within our full Courses and Fees page, alongside our comprehensive ISLPR courses covering all four skills.

If you are comparing us against another provider, ask them the same questions we have laid out above. The honest answers matter more than the headline price.
